Turquoise & Silver #3

Serpentine lines

I was watching some show on Hulu—honestly I can’t remember which one. The narrative was not particularly compelling, but I was enchanted by the line work on wallpaper in an office set, of all things. It was intersecting serpentine lines in gold on a dark field, maybe brown? Anyway, the thing that made them really interesting was that they were slightly irregular, organic. I’ve worked the pattern into these four little studies I was working on this week, in several sizes and as positive and negative lines in paint.

It is interesting how minor variations in the line intersections and the size can create the illusion of netting or undulation. It seemed appropriate to add a random thick line in this delicious turquoise acrylic crayon that goes on like new lipstick on a mirror. Fun!
